# Risk ratings

> Understand assessment scores and their display bands.

The assessment risk scores use a 0–10 scale and can include decimals. Higher scores indicate higher risk. `overallTrip` is the weighted aggregate; do not calculate it as a simple average of the returned fields.

## Score bands

| Band | Score | Text colour | Background |

| Low | Less than 4.5 | `#0cbfaa` | `#e6f8f6` |
| Medium | 4.5 through 7, inclusive | `#fab515` | `#fef7e7` |
| High | Greater than 7 | `#ff0000` | `#fff4f4` |

## Returned scores

| `socialSecurity` | Social security |
| `corporateTax` | Corporate tax / permanent establishment |
| `employmentLaw` | Employment law |
| `contractorMisclass` | Contractor misclassification; Hire From Anywhere only. |
| `overallTrip` | Weighted aggregate |

## Cumulative company risk

`cumulativePeRiskLevel` is a separate text risk level for Work From Anywhere. It reflects cumulative company permanent-establishment exposure and is not another 0–10 score. It is omitted from the Hire From Anywhere response.

## Results still processing

A retrieve response with `message: "Pending"` means risk results are not ready. Wait briefly, then retrieve the same assessment ID again. Use a bounded polling timeout.
